What is PCOS hair loss? PCOS is a disorder that affects women in different ways. It is a condition in which a woman produces too much of the hormone called androgen. This hormone then binds with the hair follicles and interferes with hair growth. In some women, PCOS causes extreme hair loss because of the high levels of testosterone they are producing. However, in most women, PCOS hair loss only occurs because of an over production of the female hormone (often called oestrogen). These excess androgens to bind with the hair follicles and cause hair thinning in the scalp as well as the face.
